5 ways to boost Heart Health

We all know that caring for our heart is vital, but it can be hard to know how. It is never too late to start taking care of your heart, and you can boost your heart’s health by changing your easy life style.

Scatter the salt

Too much salt will increase blood pressure and increase the risk of heart disease. Look carefully for salty foods like biscuits, bacon and cheese. Look for alternatives where for example, you can try nuts or fresh fruit instead of snacking with crisps? You can also track your salt consumption if you get to know food labels and what they say. Food packaging typically contains a traffic light system with nutritional value – aim to select healthier, green foods for the portion of salt.

Be aware of your consumption of alcohol

Alcohol intake will affect your heart because of the rise in blood pressure and weight. As a general guide, the target is to not exceed 14 alcohol units per week. A 330 ml bottle of beer has 1.6 units, and 2.2 units of regular wine have a glass of beer that is our favourite of alcoholic drinks. It is very important that you are attentive to your usage and spread the units throughout the week. Target a couple of days without alcohol, too.

Get active daily

Regular exercise will improve the health of the heart – movement every day to produce a total of 150 minutes of aerobic activity of moderate intensity (e.g. short walks, dances, or cycling) every week.

Keep down on tension

You are more likely to turn to unhealthy habits such as smoking, drinking or unhealthy eating if you get depressed. Although it’s not clear yet if stress alone affects your heart’s health, it may lead to unhealthy behaviors. Fortunately, your stress levels are several different ways to keep your focus down to talk to loved ones and to make lists to organize your thoughts. Why not take a short walk if you feel stressed? It will help you clear your mind and go outside has a lot to do with your mental health, including improving your mood, improved self-esteem, and a better sense of life satisfaction.

Return to old mates

Some findings show that sole-heart health may be impaired by a rise in blood pressure. Solitude can also increase your stress hormone, which can adversely affect your heart.
