In the United States alone, almost a third of adults struggle with food addiction. This has led to a new industry in treating food addiction and helping people overcome it. The industry is expected to grow by 67% within the next five years and is projected to reach $19 billion in 2021.

Food addiction is defined as recurrent consumption of foods despite adverse consequences such as weight gain, digestive problems, or binge eating.
